Parker Sketch is well known for his pop art. An active member of the Orlando local art scene, he regularly shows throughout the Central Florida area. His recent solo shows in Orlando have featured video games, cartoon characters, street signs, music icons, and wine glasses. His work can be described as a combination between Andy Warhol and Jackson Pollock, combining pop culture icons with drips and splashed paint. Parker's work is usually composed of bright vibrant brush strokes and splashes of paint.

With "Biography", Parker Sketch is showing a personal side. Parker explains the change of pace; "although I see a lot of personal content in my work, people often tell me that they don't see a lot of 'Parker' in my work." "Biography" is a show that is a very personal view into Parker's life, an autobiography using paint. This collection of work tells the story of Parker's experiences growing up in the projects of Chicago, a product of a dysfunctional family, and surrounded by poverty. He also explores his early exposure to alcohol, living on the streets, and discovering his sexual identity. Maintaining some of his pop culture references, this body of work features a broader yet more personal symbolism. The show features several self portraits, including some rarely seen work from Parker's college years at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Parker Sketch was born and raised in Chicago. He earned his BFA at the School of the Art institute of Chicago, majoring in painting and art history. In Chicago, he always had creative jobs at design companies, frame shops, and galleries. He moved to Orlando in 1999, seeking a change in pace and a more comfortable climate. Parker quickly discovered a vibrant art scene and has actively participated in it since. He shows throughout the Central Florida area, and has had 9 solo and 3 two artist shows in the past 3 years. Parker recently had his first Museum show "Brain On Art" at The Lake Eustis Museum of Art in December 2011. In addition to his own shows Parker has curated 2 major art shows in 2011. A leader in the Orlando art scene, he has created a monthly critique group, co-hosts a weekly live painting artists' networking event at OLV, and helped coordinate the "Art House" at Orlando Calling.

"Biography" will be on display at Gallery Q, at The Center, Orlando's GLBT Community Center on Mills near Downtown Orlando. Twenty percent of all sales will be donated to The Center.
