Artist, Jennifer Payne
Jennifer Payne graduated from Ringling College of Art in 1997 with an emphasis in painting. During this time she also got to study abroad at the Art School of the Aegean in Samos, Greece in the summer of 1996. Upon graduation she moved to California and then to Denver, CO where she studied painting further at the Art Student League of Denver under Kevin Wechbach. Jennifer has been featured in Southwest Art magazine as one of twenty emerging artist to watch. She moved to Orlando, FL in the early 2000s and has continued to paint and has been represented by over twelve galleries nationwide. She works intuitively constantly experimenting and changing styles the only restriction being her simple palette of warm and cool primary colors plus white. This gives her a greater control of the overall harmony in her work. She paints both from life and her mind to convey feeling and emotion through activated brush strokes and strong color. She loves never knowing exactly how the painting is going to look in the end, but lets it unravel and evolve naturally to see how far it can go. Jennifer is strongly influenced by Picasso's idea that "it takes a very long time to become young" and "painting is just another way to keep a diary". She also identifies strongly with Alice Neel's passion and obsession for painting.
